PRODUCTS -- Pro/SURFACE
Pro/SURFACE is surface modeling that provides for designers with tools such as section sweeps and blended surfaces to help accurately create the intended shape. Using Pro/SURFACE the user can create surface features and produce rounds using the surfaces. The user can also generate cross sections of surface features and create surface models by translating, rotating, and mirroring surface features. Also, the user can replace part surfaces with surface features. Pro/SURFACE allows the user to create blends from files and produce blends between sections and surfaces, and between two surfaces. Also, in one or two directions, the user can create a set of boundary curves, and generate variable section sweeps for the surface features. Also, the user can join, intersect, trim, or extend surfaces. Define the most complex geometry- The Advanced Surface Extension surface allows the development of complex surface geometry using sweeps, blends, extends, offsets, and a variety of other specialized surface features. Tools are available in the Advanced Surface Extension to efficiently refine geometry, including parametrically modifying the surface, and trimming back or merging multiple surfaces. Surfaces can easily be turned into solid geometry at any given point in the design process. Use Information/Analysis Tools- Numerous tools are available to analyze surfaces such as Gaussian and sectional curvature, slope, surface normals, reflection curves, and drafts checking. The surface models can easily be converted into solid geometry for mass property and assembly evaluations. Use top-down design- An unlimited number of Pro/ENGINEER parts and assemblies can be created referencing a single surface model. When this surface model is changed, all the related parts are modified accordingly. Import Data Doctor Option allows users to easily repair imported geometric data in order to provide valid Pro/ENGINEER geometry for downstream applications. This option provides tools for automating the cleanup process as well as a Constraint Manager for constraining or collapsing imported geometry for better surface management. Key Benefits Automated Surface Cleanup- By performing some of the more tedious and repetitive tasks associated with refining imported geometry, minimizing user interaction while still providing complete control over the process in order to maintain design intent and engineering requirements. Based on a user's input, the system will automatically reconstruct the underlying wire frame of the imported geometry, close gaps, align vertices and rebuild boundaries. Constraint Manager- Provides users with a set of tools to specify constraints for the resulting geometry. These tools allow users to select the surfaces and boundaries that should change, modify the proposed solution, as well as set or unset tangency constraints. Through selection, they can choose the entities on the screen and specify a constraint to be applied to those entities. Collapse Geometry- Enables users to automatically delete the history of the imported features and repair the imported geometry by making those features part of the imported geometry. While the parent-child relationships between the imported feature and the collapsed geometry are removed, the references to collapsed geometry objects remain valid, allowing dependencies to regenerate. This eliminates the need for reference handling for these repair features - as some areas of the may change during the design process. Top |
